Well if this pear mug pie isn’t the coziest thing you’ve ever seen…
I don’t know what is! A pear mug pie that is easy to throw together and topped with the cutest little crust stars? I can’t! I just can’t.
For years I’ve rambled about my love for these pears. They are truly the BEST. They’ve been a staple since I was a kid, which started with my dad getting them as gifts from work. I didn’t even like pears as a kid until I tasted these. They are such a classic!
And these days, I love to send them as gifts too. It’s one of those gifts that always gets used, you know? It’s one of my favorite parts about being an adult. Ha.
I have some amazing news for you before we talk mug pies. Harry and David has provided a discount code that you can use site wide to receive 15% off your order! The code is HOWSWEET!
But now, let’s talk pear mug pie. I love a good mug pie. It’s so cozy. It’s so personal. And so perfectly portioned for one.
This pear mug pie is for all you pie cheaters out there, like me! I don’t always have the time and patience to make a full pie during the crazy holiday season, and this is the perfect treat. You could even make just one serving… or two servings! For a fun night in, wrapping gifts and watching Christmas movies.
Or you could make a few servings and have them as dessert with your family and friends. SO fun.
My personal favorite part? The puff pastry star cut outs. You guys know I looooove my puff pastry. Love it like mad.
I used a tiny star cookie cutter and sprinkled them with coarse sugar. They are just too cute!
Add a big old scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and a generous pinch of cinnamon. Now your night is MADE!
P.S. if you head over to Instagram today, I’m giving away THREE fruit of the month club memberships from Harry and David! WOOHOO!
How to Make a Pear Mug Pie
This pear mug pie is the coziest way to enjoy warm, caramelized pears. Topped with vanilla ice cream and the cutest, quick puff pastry stars, these are a great dessert for a dinner party or an easy one to make for yourself on a Saturday night!
- 1sheet puff pastry,thawed
- 1largeegg,lightly beaten
- 2tablespoonsraw turbinado sugar
- 4Harry and David Royal Riviera Pears, peeled and sliced
- 2tablespoonsunsalted butter
- 3tablespoonsbrown sugar
- ½teaspoonground cinnamon
- 1/8teaspoonfreshly grated nutmeg
- 1pinchground ginger
- vanilla ice cream,for serving
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Use a small star-shaped cookie cut to make cuts in the puff pastry. You can use whatever kind of cookie cutter you’d like! Brush each piece with the beaten egg and sprinkle the turbinado sugar on top.
Bake the puff pastry for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are golden and puffed.
While the puff pastry is baking, heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Once melted, add the pears and stir. Cook for 5 minutes, until they soften slightly. Add in the brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg and ginger. Stir and cook for 5 minutes more, until the pears are tender.
To serve the mug pies, spoon the pears into the bottom of your mug. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a few of the puff pastry stars.
When those ice cream rivers form…
